Reflexology and Back Pain

If you are one of the many people that suffer with back pain then you will know what little relief there is from this condition; a one hundred percent effective back pain relief cure has yet to be found but that does not mean that some easing of the discomfort cannot be found. Although some medication may be effective and bring pain relief, it doesn’t really help with the underlying problem of the condition causing the distress.

Many people with spinal problems become addicted to the medication that relieves the back pain but this should really be the responsibility of a doctor. It is not difficult to injure your back, especially if you are a manual worker but long term problems can also be the result of poor body posture or from an accident.

Most spinal problems are a result of lifting heavy weights but they can also be caused by lifting even light weights incorrectly, the pain is usually experienced in the lower back. There are a number of natural back pain relief methods that mean you will not have to rely on drugs. One of the simplest but also underused remedies is just the act of stretching which can bring relief to tense muscles as well.

Success at reducing pain and providing relief has also been found by people using reflexology to the feet. It is often successful at treating people with long term conditions. Relaxing muscles and increasing the effectiveness of the circulatory system are two other reasons to use reflexology.

The Chinese medical art of acupuncture can also be used to help bring back pain relief, something which has only been recognized a short while in the West. The use of needles in Traditional Chinese medicine could be over 5,000 years old. The Chinese believe we all have this special energy force flowing through us, when we become sick it doesn’t flow correctly. Acupuncture needles when inserted at particular points can release this energy. Many sufferers swear by the use of acupuncture and results from many tests often back this claim. This treatment has indicating the patient does receive pain relief by using this method.

The Chinese discipline of tai chi has also provided relief as it uses yoga like principles. It is far easier and much slower so there is less likelihood of further damage being caused. This method uses breathing control as the main source of relief with some stretching involved. It is so easy to learn by the young and old alike.

It would be a shame not to finish by remembering that exercise can provide back pain relief and that regular exercise is also one of the best preventative medicines available.
